ACTIVITIES
- Fellowship Meals: The first Sunday of every month, we gather together for a common meal after receiving the Lord's Supper during the worship service. This is always a good time of food, laughter, and rejoicing together in God's gift of community.
- Small Group Bible studies: Make plans to participate in this integral part of our church's life. God's people gathering around the Word of God is essential to the life of our church and to our overall spiritual well being. Please contact Kirk Blankenship, Jim Cropp, or Mac Oates for meeting times and locations.
Here is a sample of some of the books and resources we have studied in the past:
-
Living in Christ's Church by Edmund P. Clowney; Learn to think biblically about the church and its purpose. The author states, "The teaching of the Bible about the church constantly points us to the Lord of the church, and to the heavenly nature of God's earthly people."
-
Ministries of Mercy: The Call of the Jericho Road by Timothy Keller ; Some lay blame for poverty and need on oppression; others on laziness. Pastor Keller demonstrates that the biblical viewpoint is far more sophisticated than either extreme. He sets forth scriptural principles for mercy ministries, suggests practical steps to begin and persevere in active caring, and deals perceptively with thorny issues. Balanced and informative!
- What is Reformed Theology (Video Series) by R.C. Sproul; The roots of evangelical Christianity are found in the soil of the sixteenth century Protestant Reformation, which brought a return of true biblical theology to the world. In this series, Dr. Sproul offers an introduction to Reformed theology, the heart of historical evangelicalism. C.H. Spurgeon once said that Reformed theology is nothing other than biblical Christianity.
-
Christ and Culture Revisited by D.A. Carson; Called to live in the world, but not to be of it, Christians must maintain a balancing act that becomes more precarious the further our culture departs from its Judeo-Christian roots. How should members of the church interact with such a culture, especially as deeply enmeshed as most of us have become? D. A. Carson applies his masterful touch to this problem.
-
The Pastoral Letters, 1 & 2 Timothy, Titus by Susan Hunt; In these letters, Paul teaches Timothy and Titus-and us-how the church should function as God's covenant family. He gives principles for the organization and covenant life of the church, including the role and responsibilities of women in the church.
